It is a great pleasure to welcome you all to HONEYMUN’26. Serving as Secretary-General for the first time is both an honor and a personal milestone for me, and I am truly excited to see this conference continue to grow with each passing year.
Model United Nations is much more than a series of debates. It is a space where ideas are challenged, perspectives are broadened, and meaningful dialogue takes place. Over the course of this conference, you will step into the roles of decision-makers, exchange different viewpoints, and work together to address complex global issues.
This study guide, prepared with care by our academic team, is meant to support you throughout the conference. Still, the most valuable part of MUN comes from your own efforts—your research, your willingness to listen, and your ability to collaborate. I encourage you to stay curious, speak up with confidence, and engage fully in every session.
Beyond the committee rooms, HONEYMUN’26 is also about connecting with others, learning from one another, and enjoying the experience you are sharing. I hope you make lasting memories, both during formal sessions and in the moments in between.

Honourable Participants,
It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I, Dila Çağatay, the Director General of Bornova Anatolian High School Model United Nations'26 (HoneyMUN'26), extend a warm welcome to each and every one of you. As we begin this journey together, I feel very honoured to have the opportunity to lead such a distinguished gathering of future leaders and pioneers of diplomacy. As a sophomore at Bornova Anatolian High School, I am honoured to extend a warm welcome to you all as we gather for this memorable event.
In the course of the thorough planning process that preceded this conference, our committed team has expended considerable effort to ensure that every detail has been meticulously considered and that every aspect of your experience has been thoughtfully crafted. The objective is not merely to meet expectations, but to surpass them, thereby providing an enriching and memorable experience that will encourage growth, cultivate meaningful connections, and stimulate positive change.
As delegates engage in lively debates, propose innovative solutions, and collaborate with their counterparts, it is imperative to recognise that their actions represent not only their respective countries but also contribute to the advancement of global understanding and cooperation. It is recommended that this opportunity be embraced in order to broaden perspectives, refine diplomatic skills, and forge lasting friendships with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
Behind the scenes, the dedicated efforts of the Secretariat, the experienced academic team, and the hardworking organisation team have ensured the success of this event. The commitment to excellence and attention to detail demonstrated by the aforementioned parties has been instrumental in bringing the organisation's vision to life, and the gratitude expressed by the organisation is noteworthy.
It is my conviction that the spirit of diplomacy and mutual respect which characterises this conference will result in discussions, resolutions and connections that will have a lasting impact on all participants. It is imperative to note that participation and contributions are of the utmost importance to the success of this conference. Committee Description: As the greatest conflict in human history, the Second World War comes to a close, leaving the world in a state of uncertainty and hardship. With the Allied forces marching through Berlin, the remnants of the Axis Powers have been captured and gathered for one of the deadliest sentencings in history, the Nuremberg Trials. The Allied Powers have gathered their judicial strength to bring justice upon what's left of the Third Reich, leaving it up to the delegates to prosecute or defend some of the most notorious criminals in history. This committee will serve as a historical simulation of the Nuremberg Trials court and will have participants assume various roles, including lawyers and prosecutors, thereby rewriting the story of the Nuremberg Trials.

Committee Description: NATO is a military and political alliance established to ensure collective defense among its member states. In this committee, common defense strategies against modern threats, cooperation among member states, and global security issues will be discussed. Delegates will be encouraged to produce solutions from both military and diplomatic perspectives. The official language of the committee is Turkish; presentations may be delivered in English.

a) Enhancing cyber defense capacities among member states,
updating NATO’s collective defense mechanisms against hybrid threats, and establishing common
cyber security protocols. b) Reviewing NATO’s deterrence strategies in response to increasing

Committee Description: UN Women is a United Nations body dedicated to promoting gender equality and the empowerment of women. The committee will work on policy proposals aimed at increasing women’s participation in economic, social, and political life. The official language of the committee is English.

Committee Description: The IAEA is a United Nations organization that promotes the peaceful use of nuclear energy while working to prevent the proliferation of nuclear weapons. In this committee, issues such as nuclear security, inspection mechanisms, and nuclear energy policies will be discussed. Delegates are expected to contribute from both technical and diplomatic perspectives. The official language of the committee is English.

Committee Description: 1970’li yılların ortalarına gelinirken, Kıbrıs Adası’nda artan etnik gerilimler, anayasal düzenin bozulması ve adadaki Türk toplumunun güvenliğine yönelik tehditler bölgesel bir krize dönüşmüştür. 1960 Garanti Antlaşması çerçevesinde Türkiye, Yunanistan ve Birleşik Krallık’ın garantör devletler olarak sorumlulukları bulunurken, 1974 yılında yaşanan gelişmeler Doğu Akdeniz’de siyasi ve askeri dengeleri derinden etkilemiştir. Bu komitede delegeler; darbe süreci, garantörlük hakları, askeri müdahale seçenekleri, uluslararası toplumun tepkisi ve insani durum gibi kritik başlıkları eş zamanlı olarak ele alacaktır. The prolonged conflict known as the War of the Roses emerges from rival claims to the English throne by the House of Lancaster and the House of York. Weak royal authority, shifting loyalties among the nobility, and ongoing power struggles threaten the unity of the kingdom. In this committee, delegates will navigate a rapidly evolving crisis marked by battles, betrayals, and alliances. Key issues such as legitimacy of rule, succession, military strategy, and the role of the nobility will shape the course of the conflict. Decisions taken during the crisis will determine not only the outcome of the war but also the future structure of the English monarchy.

Committee Description: UN-Habitat is a United Nations programme aimed at promoting sustainable urbanization worldwide. The committee seeks to develop policies and solutions to make cities more livable, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable. Delegates will address current issues such as rapid urban population growth, environmental threats, infrastructure challenges, and social inequalities, and will work toward decisions aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals. The official language of the committee is Turkish; presentations may be delivered in English.
Agenda Item: Sustainable urban planning: developing solutions for building sustainable, inclusive, and resilient cities through the integration of infrastructure, environment, housing, transportation, and social services in response to increasing urban populations.

Committee Description: SOCHUM focuses on human rights, migration, refugee crises, and social policies. Committee sessions will be conducted in French, and delegates are expected to develop diplomatic solutions to social challenges.

Beschreibung des Ausschusses: Die UNESCO ist eine Organisation der Vereinten Nationen, die die internationale Zusammenarbeit in den Bereichen Bildung, Wissenschaft, Kultur und Kommunikation fördert. Der Ausschuss befasst sich mit Fragen des Schutzes des kulturellen Erbes, der Bildungspolitik und der wissenschaftlichen Zusammenarbeit.
Tagesordnung des Ausschusses:
a) Schutz des kulturellen Erbes und dessen Weitergabe an jüngere Generationen: Nutzung
digitaler Technologien und Entwicklung von Bildungsprogrammen
